How to Get Medical Treatment in India from the UAE

A complete guide for UAE residents — covering costs in UAE Dirhams (AED), the e-Medical Visa process, direct flights from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and how Medworth manages every detail of your care.

Why UAE Residents Choose India for Medical Care

The UAE offers excellent healthcare — but private specialist treatment, complex surgeries, and long-term procedures can be extremely expensive, even with insurance. Many UAE residents — both Emirati nationals and expatriates — are discovering that India's top hospitals deliver the same or better clinical outcomes at a fraction of the cost.

India and the UAE share deep cultural and commercial ties. Flights from Dubai and Abu Dhabi to India's major medical cities take under 3 hours. Many Indian hospitals have dedicated Arabic and Hindi-speaking coordinators, and the food, cultural, and religious needs of UAE patients are well understood and catered for.

Medworth works with JCI and NABH-accredited hospitals across Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bangalore — giving UAE patients access to world-class cardiac surgery, oncology, orthopaedics, IVF, and more, with end-to-end coordination from enquiry to return flight.

Frequently Asked Questions — UAE Patients

Is medical treatment in India safe?

India's top hospitals — Apollo, Fortis, Manipal, Medanta, and others — hold JCI and NABH accreditation, the same international standards applied to hospitals in the USA and Europe. Surgical outcomes for cardiac, orthopaedic, and oncology procedures are comparable to the world's best hospitals.

How long will I need to stay in India?

Typical stays: cardiac surgery 10–14 days, knee/hip replacement 7–10 days, IVF 14–21 days, dental work 5–7 days. Your Medworth coordinator will give you a precise timeline based on your specific case.

Will my UAE health insurance cover treatment in India?

Some UAE insurance policies (particularly those with international coverage) may cover treatment in India. Medworth provides all documentation — invoices, medical reports, discharge summaries — to support your insurance claim. We recommend checking with your insurer before travelling.

Can I bring a family member?

Yes. Family members can apply for an Indian e-Medical Attendant Visa. Medworth arranges accommodation near the hospital for accompanying family.

What about follow-up care after returning to the UAE?

Your Medworth coordinator remains your point of contact after you return. We provide all discharge documents in English and Arabic, liaise with your UAE doctor, and can arrange teleconsultations with your Indian specialist if needed.
